DIAB's production facility in Kunshan, a city not far from Shanghai, China, has been granted recognition by the city's mayor. The plant is considered to be the safest balsa wood and IPN/PET factory in the area and a model for other manufacturers.
To show commitment to customers in China and the Asia region, DIAB took the decision to make a significant investment to upgrade its facilities in Kunshan. Notable safety measures have been implemented. All the equipment has been aligned with the latest EX regulations, new dust collectors have been purchased and existing dust collectors have been upgraded. The factory now has a basically dust-free environment, which is rare in its line of business. Well-known tools as 5S and LEAN manufacturing principles have been implemented to further improve work environment.
After the upgrades, DIAB feels confident that the company is in a favorable position to secure continued operation and stabile deliveries to its customers. DIAB is the global market leader in structural core materials, a position that has now been further strengthened.
We are very proud of having received this recognition, says Johan Gral¨¦n, Executive Vice President Asia Pacific at DIAB. DIAB established its first facility in Kunshan in 2005 as the first international core company in China and has since then continuously increased its operations. Today, our plant has around 300 employees and a second plant is under construction. We are determined to create and maintain a safe working environment for all of our employees and safety practices are incorporated into each job task.
These efforts are part of our sustainability strategy and considered one of our top business priorities, continues Johan Gralen.
China is one of DIAB's most important markets and the company experiences large growth spurred by demand from China's wind and renewable energy sector as well as important development projects in infrastructure, transportation and aerospace.
